The events in Acts 3:12–4:4 occur shortly after Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit empowered the apostles to boldly proclaim the gospel. Peter and John, two of Jesus' closest disciples, were ministering in Jerusalem, where the temple was the center of Jewish worship. The Jewish leaders, including the Sadducees, held significant religious and political power, and they were often resistant to the message of Jesus as the Messiah. This passage highlights the tension between the early church and the Jewish authorities, as well as the miraculous signs that accompanied the apostles' ministry.
In Acts 3:12–4:4, Peter addresses a crowd after healing a lame man at the temple gate called Beautiful. Peter boldly proclaims Jesus as the glorified servant of God, whom the people had rejected and crucified, but whom God raised from the dead.
